If you are looking for peace and quiet and an idyllic setting, you have come to the right place. The garden is framed by mature trees and ancient yew hedges. Wisterias and old fashioned scented roses climb the walls and the ornamental pond and fountain are fed by natural spring water, attracting plenty of wildlife to the garden. The large southwest-facing stone patio is lined with English lavender, and in the summer the buzzing of the bees can be heard from dawn to dusk. The perfect place to relax.
Inside the house, the rooms are large and light and painted in the softest of colours. Antique furniture and rugs on the wooden floors create a timeless atmosphere while contemporary fabrics and flowers from the garden add splashes of colour. A fusion of French elegance (David is 1/4 French), Scandinavian lightness and famous ‘cosiness’ (Helle is Danish), and traditional English. Sketches on the wall by Helle and son William show the family’s interests in art, design and ‘old stuff’ in the much loved family home which they enjoy sharing with guests from all over the world.
Whether you are staying for a couple of nights, a short break or a longer holiday, or looking for somewhere homely when on business in the area, you will be sure to get a warm welcome and have a very relaxed and enjoyable stay. Friendly Border Terriers Teddy and Tilly might even be at the gate to greet you.
